I have a family to support and we enjoy a somewhat middle class lifestyle and so I was wondering about my question. I am beginning to invest a little bit in bonds and am interested also in stocks that pay dividends.

But how much money will I need to invest, so I can retire with $100,000 a year income?

I have done the math and worked out if I can passively earn this amount from my investments then I shall be able to provide for my family no matter what.
