1 Answers: Could you point in the right direction in Writing an Equity Research Report for the CFA Challenge? Supplements, Materials, Books, Know-how?

Question

www.cfainstitute.org/societies/challenge on a publically traded company.

I’m mostly going on auto-pilot right now, and have given up on where to find **resources**, given I have a background in CS and just decided to double major in Finance. I’d like to understand, but I can’t find a good resource to start with. I’ve been currently just reading **past reports** which are available www.cfainstitute.org/en/societies/challenge/past-champions and trying to make connections on how I could apply the same method.

Given time is of the essence, maybe some of you could **point me** to a good book or **supplement**?

Let’s start with something simple, could you guys point me in the right direction, on how to issue a **”Buy recommendation”** on a publically traded company; how do some reports come up with a specific number, what variables do they use? How do I go about writing an **equity/** **research report**? What books would you recommend I read? Can I **apply any programming from my background**, other than excel that might help me model something, maybe **algorithms**? I genuinely feel **LOST**, and I have **9 weeks** to present an equity research report, and presentation on this company.

Have a great day!
