1 Answers: How long does it take to learn how to invest in the Stock Market?

There are hundreds of different ways to invest in the stock market.

One of the better ways, simply buying and holding mutual funds and/or exchange traded funds, you can learn in a few hours.

The most complicated ways, such as actively trading full time, are lifelong learning exercises.

I think for one you need to start reading. A good book is Joel Greenblatt’s Little Book That Beats The Market. There is of course also the intelligent investor and many more books with cult like following.

If you are going to learn about Value Investing which is what it sounds like based on your question then I suggest you also study the greats, living and dead.

You can start by studying Benjamin Graham and then his student, Warren Buffett.

From there you can begin to get — or likely just understand immediately, that if you are buying stock at a low discount price, based on your calculations, and you hold it while the price corrects to its true intrinsic value, you make a good profit.

Like Joel Greenblatt says if you can make the right analysis of a stock and buy it with a margin of safety, the market will agree with you. It just may take a while to do so. That is all.
